This weeks cross country race report comes from second year Bertie Kingsley.
The Westward League cross country race this Sunday featured some great racing and a lot of wind. Newquay’s course overlooks the sea and so was open to 38mph gusts and the occasional shower - at which point wearing shorts and an EUAC vest didn’t seem like such a good idea! Short sharp hills made for interesting racing and the EUAC cheering and general spirit was brilliant, as always.
Well done to everybody who ran (and thanks to those who came along to support). Emma Martin ran another great race coming in 11th place, closely followed by Anna Woolf and Ella Saunders. Ben Holmes, Jack Bond and Rob Mann were the fastest EUAC men, coming in at 11th, 12th and 13th respectively, brilliant results. EUAC's A teams are now leading the men’s league and third in the women’s. Full results and individual times can be found at: http://www.city-runs.co.uk/westward/
Also, kudos to Steven Berrisford for his inspiring sprint finish having just ran 8450m further than his normal sprint distance.
Westward League races are ((almost)) always fun and open to anybody in the club so come along to the next race in Exeter on the 3rd December. Having more runners always gives us a better chance of success, by pushing other teams further from the front of the race so hopefully we can gather a huge team to run and to support in Exeter and continue our success in the league.
