In the last fixture for the EUAC Cross Country Team in preparation for the BUCS Championships and small team gave some promising performances!
Depleting on the women's side saw just 2 athletes take to the start line, but luckily they were veterans of the green vest in Cross Captain Steph McCall (pictured) and Clare Parkin! Both gave good accounts despite suffering from fairly foul conditions to secure 4th and 6th positions respectively. Unfortunately 3 finishers are required to score team points and therefore the silverware will have to wait until next year!
The men's side came out with greater numbers, and despite some members lining up still under the influence of the previous night and solid team performance was seen. Ollie Garrod led the team home with 11th position, followed by some great team packing with 44th Ollie Andrews, 45th Josh Eve, 46th Jack Gavin and 58th Hal Tucker.
The men's team secured 8th place as they look to finish in the top 10 of the 50 clubs in the league. 2 fixtures remain, Bovey Tracey in February and finally Plymouth in March. But before that comes the challenge of the BUCS Cross Country Championships in Stirling where the club will attempt to emulate its successes from last year!
